The chairman of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission has asked Congress for the authority to regulate "crypto assets".Even the lobbyists of the crypto industry appear to accept the fact that crypto assets will be regulated and are pushing for the CFTC to be the industry's regulator, not the SEC.The crypto industry is moving toward its next stage and a lot may happen in the coming few months to determine the future of crypto and the future of financial technology.This is just another step in the re-making of the financial sector in the United States, a step that seems to be lagging the rest of the world.
